Liberty Rings Playing Cards

Whether you homeschool for nine months out of the year, or school all year long, there is always time for good, wholesome family games. If those activities are educational as well, all the better. I'll take it even a step further and say, if a game also easily fits in your. Purse or bag, you've hit the jackpot. Hmm, now what kind of game fits that description? Playing cards, of course! Don't zone out on me now, just because you find these paper play things almost everywhere. The cards that I received to review are of a rather special variety.

Liberty Rings playing cards will immediately stand out to you due to the larger than average package. There are one hundred and twelve sturdy cards included with this set. What sets them apart from the average card is that each card features a symbol that represents "basic principles of liberty", set in place by our founding fathers of the United States. Oh, talk about boring, you might say. Hang on now and let me paint a mental picture for you. Imagine, you're sitting around the table with the family, enjoying a relaxing game of Go Fish. As you wait for your turn, your mind wanders to the government lesson that you've been planning for your kids. You ask yourself, "Now what were the three branches of government that help our government keep checks and balances?" You happen to look down and bam! There it is right in front of you, on the face of your Liberty Rings playing card, the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches!

The top of the flap on the box of Liberty Rings cards quotes Thomas Jefferson: "Educate and inform the whole mass of people...they are the only sure reliance of the preservation of our liberty."

We have the opportunity to educate our children in a wide variety of ways. Using these cards is a simple and interesting way to start conversations. Family discussion, and even brush up on facts from your government classes in a whimsical fashion. Beyond that, they're perfect for your favorite card game, be it Go Fish, or Solitaire. Keep them out and available for Memorial Day, Independence Day, or any day of the year.

My twelve-year-old daughter is my faithful review helper, and together, we enjoyed a few card games, and trivia sessions. Out of my two daughters, she is the one who has a special love for memorizing facts about all kinds of subjects, and she adores history. As such, she pays close attention to the symbols and information on these cards. We both agree, these are a nice set of playing cards. They are a fun addition to our game collection and would make an interesting and creative gift for anyone that you know who has similar interests.

Liberty Checkers

Checkers is a classic game that is painless for a young child to get the hang of. It's graced the tables of families from what seems to be as early as 1400 B.C. according to some sources. The red chips versus the black chips leaping over their opponents and getting crowned when successfully reaching the contestants turf is enjoyed repetitively by children and adult alike.

Now visualize a game of checkers that worked hard at instilling important values of freedom and virtue into the heads and hearts of its players through standard play. What an incredible and resourceful idea! Especially as a parent of young American children, this would be a checkered board I would gladly welcome into the grasp of my babes.

Liberty Rings has taken on the mission to equip Americans to learn, share, and perpetuate the important truths of the principles of liberty laid out by the Founding Fathers into every common items. The concept of "apperception" which is defined as the mental process through which a person makes sense of an idea by assimilating it into is or her body of ideas is what Liberty Rings applies to their product line. They seek to meet their mission by creating unique symbols and pictures each representing one of the twenty-eight principles Dr. W. Cleon Skousen, a top authority on the U.S. Constitution, provides in his book The 5000-Year Leap, and familiarize their customers with these symbols and values by incorporating them into their products.

Liberty Rings has accomplished instilling these principles into the classic game of checkers titled Glorious Standard of Liberty Checkers. The colorful checkerboard has black spaces and beautifully vivid background colored spaces. The black squares, on which the checkers begin, have the titles of the twenty-eight principles written on them in clear white lettering. For example, they read, "Natural Law", "Unalienable Rights", "Separation of Powers" and so forth.

Each checkers piece, likewise, has the symbol that corresponds to the principle on the board. These symbols can be identified and learned about from a small booklet included in the checkers box entitled The Glorious Standard of Liberty Summaries. This short booklet delivers snapshots of the concepts behind each principle as well as quotes from Founding Fathers and from Skousen's book The 5000-Year Leap.

Our family has benefited tremendously from this checkers board. My children have brought it to game nights with their friends, and it often accompanies us on our drive-in movie nights. I love hearing my children say, "Revealed Law just jumped Free-Market!" Being able to explain the core beliefs that our country was founded on as each chip exits the game has provoked incredible teaching moments between us and. Our children, as well as my children and their friends.

The notion of taking every day items and transforming them into powerful teasing tools is novel and impactful, to say the least.

This game could be improved by maintaining the original red and black chip model instead of the all black chips. This would allow for simplicity when browsing over the board in meditation of one's next advance. The game currently has principles one through fourteen for player one and fifteen through twenty-eight for player two, with no real distinction save the icon stickers on the chips.

I greatly encourage patriotic families, and likewise, all American families, to allow this board to have a prominent place in their game closet and induce virtue, principle and truth into the hearts of all who play it. As it says in Liberty Rings The Glorious Standard of Liberty Summaries, "By thorough acknowledging these core principles, a well-informed citizen will be liberated and empowered to contribute to the betterment of a free and prosperous society" (Principle #23 Educated Electorate).

Coloring for Liberty (Adult and Primary)

Coloring is a relaxing hobby, and it is no longer exclusively for children. Adults can benefit from the therapeutic pastime of a box of freshly sharpened pencils and detailed coloring book, and in my case, always a cup of coffee. In our family, we look forward to the end of the day when school books are put away and free time has commenced. A large box of coloring books is arranged on the kitchen table, as well as every last crafting utensil, ranging from crayons to watercolors.

An incredible connection ensures when grown-ups and kids alike are elbow to elbow with crayon in hand. Conversation flows freely while eyes are concentrated on the artwork imminent. These conversations are prime teaching and discipling moments for parents to acquaint their children with the family's core beliefs and values. I believe this is why Liberty Rings has brilliantly designed an adult and primary coloring book to enable you to do just that.

Each coloring book ascends through the twenty-eight principles of liberty, there are comparable enough differences between the versions to invoke increased conversation amongst artists that are seated side by side. "Why do you think this icon was included on the page marked, 'Free Market'? How does it represent a Free Market?"

My family took one principle a night and discussed it while coloring in our Coloring for Liberty books. The Older children discussed why certain details were. Included in that principle and how they related to the main point the principle was trying to convey. A useful tool for full appreciation of these coloring books would be Liberty Rings small booklet called The Glorious Standard of Liberty Summaries. I recommend purchasing this alongside these coloring books so that one can read a brief description of each principle and gain a whole comprehension of the icon and its meaning.

Whether it's after school or after work, on the sofa or on the kitchen table, attempt to crack open an edifying coloring book for a change and see how it enriches your life and the lives around you by instilling glorious stands of liberty and virtue one stroke of a pencil at a time.

Liberty Bingo

Liberty Rings is a company that has created a series of educational products that inspire and encourage the learning and understanding of the principles of freedom and liberty. These are the principles that the founding fathers had in mind when creating the U.S. Constitution. Liberty Rings has created this line of educational products for student and families, with plenty of icons, games and artwork.

Liberty Rings has based the games and activities on 28 principles. These principles were extracted from the study of the U.S. Constitution by Dr. W. Cleon Skousen a top authority on the Constitution. The principles cover everything from the role of the family and the role of the creator to the founding fathers. Principles such as the separation of powers and having an educated electorate are important in the Constitution and are included.

Liberty Bingo is a game of bingo focused on these 28 principles. It uses the typical bingo game set-up with calling cards, playing cards, and markers. Each square on the playing card is a different one of the principles. The calling cards have a picture on one side to illustrate the principle and the words to describe the principle on the other side. The playing cards have the same thing: an image on one side and words on the other. This makes it a game that can be used by students in the younger elementary grades all the way up through adults.

Also included is a booklet that explains a little bit about each of the 28 principles. There are a few sentences about each principle, which is sufficient for most of them, but a few could use more information. Each also includes a quote from the book written by Dr. Skousen. The game is printed in full color and comes tucked nicely in a sturdy box, making it easy to store or transport for game nights.

Bingo games are simple to play, and are engaging. We have had this game for a few weeks and it gets played several times a week. We have used the booklet when a question gets asked about one of the principles. The principles are being learned through discussion and repetition.

Liberty Bingo is a fun game that teaches through play. Combining fun and games always makes for a good time. By learning these principles, the appreciation for the way our country was set up and founded grows. This creates a stronger country as more people learn and understand the Constitution.

Liberty Rings Playing Cards

I remember as a child grabbing a deck of cards with a group of friends and spreading out across the living room floor, sitting across-legged, playing game after game. We'd be rolling in laughter and completely lose track of time, absolutely engulfed in Go Fish, Old Maid, or, my personal favorite, spoons. A game of solitaire can be especially entertaining on long a car or airplane ride. What if the deck of cards we chose to have in our home could also operate as a tutorship of the principles wisely laid out by men of virtue history governments and the Bible?

The playing cards come in a bright yellow box with the Liberty Rings logo on the front as well as small circles featuring the icons of the twenty-eight principles they wish to communicate to the individual enjoying a game of Crazy Eights. The cards are numbered one through twenty-eight, making the deck one hundred and twelve cards in total that encompass the four expected suits: hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades. Each numbered card correlates with one of the twenty-eight. Principles: number one being "Natural Law", number two being "Virtuous People" and so forth. The icon representing the specific concept behind that principle is bright and bold on the face of each card. These concepts can be better understood if one purchases Liberty Rings’ small summery booklet entitled The Glorious Standard of Liberty Summaries.

The thought-provoking and conversation welcoming deck of cards accompanied our family of eight on many family game nights. Our violent game of spoons would end with a discussion revolving around the principle that abruptly ended the game, insisting all players reach for a spoon in the center of the table. Learning about "Property Rights" when the fourteenth principle found all four of its like cards made our family stronger in our beliefs and instilled in us, and is continuing to instill in us, patriotism and virtue rooted in a deep understanding of our history as Americans.

Children are drawn to these beautiful Liberty Rings products. I simply placed them in my children's reach, and they excitedly began the memorization process, playing games and coloring pictures they could hand on the wall.
